Adolescent Gynecology

Dr. Sodhi is an experienced adolescent gynecologist who specializes in common teenage concerns such as menstrual cramping, hormonal acne, general period topics, and PMS.

During the adolescent period, rapid growth and physical change occurs to our bodies. Some changes may make young girls feel embarrassed, uncomfortable, or confused. Dr. Sodhi helps young girls and women care for their changing bodies, and helps answer common questions or concerns. Dr. Sodhi also helps empower young women and gives them a solid foundation and understanding for better future sexual health; prevention is the best medicine.

The American College of Obstetricians & Gynecologists recommends that females age 13-15 begin seeing a gynecologist. A pap smear will usually not be required until age 21, however, if a teenage girl is sexually active or symptomatic, she may need a pelvic exam. And even if a teenager is not yet sexually active, she should not delay building a trusting relationship with a gynecologist.

Common adolescent issues Dr. Sodhi can address:

  • Hormonal Acne
  • Irregular Periods
  • Body Image
  • Pelvic discomfort
  • Breast changes
  • Changes in discharge
  • Questions regarding sexual health
  • Weight gain
